Shops & Services

The nearest local shop is the Co-op near Bridge 224 (Langford Lane) which is about a mile south of the lift bridge (221).

Kidlington town centre (easiest canal access is from bridge 228) has a large Co-op, a Tesco Metro, newsagents, butchers, cafes, various takeaways (Chinese, Indian, Fish & Chips), chemist, Post Office, hardware store, etc.

The Stagecoach S4 runs past Thrupp on a regular basis to Kidlington, Oxford and Banbury during the day, with additional buses to the airport during peak hours. It stops at the bus stop at the end of Canal Road.

There is also a 24 hr bus service from Oxford as far as Kidlington town centre (No 2), which leaves a 30 min walk to Thrupp should you miss the last bus home!

The new 500 and 7 bus routes now connect Oxford railway station with Woodstock via Kidlington and Langford Lane, not at all far from Thrupp.

The 500 stops at ALL our local stops and stops at both The Moors Turn opposite our nearest Co-Op and at the first stop on Langford Lane (Langford Locks). It doesn’t do the stop-hopping which it practices between Parkway and Oxford and goes in to Oxford Parkway station.

The 7 stops at every stop on request and can stop at the adjacent stop on the Kidlington-Oxford Road.

The Village Noticeboard, outside the Boat Inn, has all the up-to-date timetables pinned. You could also ask a Warden for directions to the various bus-stops.
