The nearest local shop is the Co-op on Banbury Road near Bridge 224 (Langford Lane) which is about a mile south of the lift bridge (221).
Kidlington town centre (easiest canal access is from bridge 228) has a large Co-op, a Tesco Metro, newsagents, a butcher, cafes, various takeaways (Chinese, Indian, Fish & Chips), chemist, Post Office, hardware store, etc.
The Stagecoach S4 runs past Thrupp on a regular basis to Kidlington & Oxford or Banbury during the day. It stops at the bus stop at the end of Canal Road. S4 Timetable can be found here.
There are the more frequent 2 bus services from Kidlington to Oxford that can be found at various bus stops throughout the village. Please note that there are different routes for these buses – 2, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D and N2 and they all have a different route. The 2C and 2D are the nearest to Thrupp as they both stop on Langford Lane or by the Co-op on Banbury Road (just down the road), however they only operate at peak times. There are also two bus services between Woodstock and Oxford via Kidlington, the 7 and the 500. These both stop on Langford Lane and by the Co-op on Banbury Road. Alternatively if you need to head towards a hospital, you can find the 700 service from Kidlington towards the hospitals in Headington, Oxford. 700 Bus Service Timetable can be found here
The Village Noticeboard, outside the Boat Inn, has all the up-to-date timetables pinned. You could also ask a Warden for directions to the various bus-stops.
